New music January 2012

So, I have to thank Chris M for selling me a Sony mp3 player cheap, which leads to me discovering new music and finding a new way to discover new music.

The Sony mp3 player has a feature built in to record music off the radio.  (It's also got a voice recorder, which I've thought about using to record myself and practise Spanish, but that's for a future date....)  Due to my impeccable taste in music (I'm joking... more like I KNOW what I like) I've recorded a few songs I've heard playing on the radio, and last week I went back and searched the lyrics to discover who the songs were by.  Two of them, Of Montreal and The Decemberists, I've heard of for years.  I'd seen the name 1990s floating around before, but I'd never heard of Chester French before.  (I saw a note I made about liking another Of Montreal song some months ago... I must check out more!)

So, the four songs (five if you include Nuevacosta, whom I've already mentioned on this blog) are:

Chester French - She Loves Everybody
Of Montreal - Disconnect the Dots
The 1990s - 59
The Decemberists - The Sporting Life

Surprisingly, they're all American, bar The 1990s, who are Glaswegian, which is not surprising at all!
