Someone Needs to Get Back from His Bolivian Holiday!

While I've been counting down the days, since he initially left, someone's back from Bolivia this weekend...

I'm not sure, as I only realised Tuesday was a holiday when one of my students told me this afternoon (today's Friday), and only later than that did I realise some people, and students, have the Monday off as well, so this is actually a four-day weekend for some people, including one of my flatmates.

So, with no class on Tuesday... I will have to see what happens.  I don't want to get my hopes up and think 'AMAZING!' if before Thursday, but at the same time I have waited, and I deserve some kind of response to 'Muchas gracias...' after 'Quiero ver mas de ti cuando te vuelves.  ¡Y que te vayas bien!'  Yes, I do think I deserve some sort of response!

And might he actually get back on Monday?, which is later than I thought, or even Tuesday???, but even as I type this, I realise that's not the end of the world. ... But it IS longer than I've thought, and I've only realised that in the last couple hours!  As Francisca Valenzuela said, Quiero Verte Mas.

¡Miré mi primera película totalmente en español (en Chile), sin subtítulos!

I'm disappointed in this movie poster as it doesn't show 'Knives' (didn't catch her real name in the Spanish version).  By the end of the film I thought she was the real star, this only shows Scott, Ramona, and his seven 'enemies'.  'Knives' gave up a little too easily at the end (glad I haven't put this on Facebook, otherwise wouldn't have mentioned the end) but she (her character) was gorgeous, lovely, and really went through just as much as Scott did!  Initially I didn't like the comic book adaptation, nor the special effects (totally put off by the 'footprints' in the snow when Scott and Ramona went on the swings in their first date), but I must admit, the comic-bookness was integral to the plot, so HAD to be there!  Me being me, I totally liked the first fifteen or twenty minutes without all that!

But yeah, this was the first film I've seen since I've been in Chile entirely in Spanish.  For two or three months now I've felt prepared to watch a film in Spanish with ONLY Spanish subtitles, not English subtitles, but there were no subtitles with this.  I didn't catch it word-for-word, missed whole sentences when I wasn't concentrating, but was 100% able to follow what was going on, understand jokes, and laugh out loud at times!

Good film!  I NEED to watch more films!  No disrespect to this film, which I really enjoyed, but I just don't watch enough films, not even one a month at the moment (in China it was about three a week), and that needs to change!

Jokes

"Jesus loves you."

A nice gesture in church.

A horrific thing to hear in a Mexican prison.

I'm not saying my new sex doll is too realistic, but it cries after I fuck it.

I Googled "Gary Oldman" and got some pretty disturbing images - he's really let himself go, I thought.

Then I realised I'd left the "R" out.

Apart from humans, the only animal that enjoys having sex is a dolphin.

I had to shag a LOT of animals to find that out.

As I sat down next to a bloke on the bus he gave me a really strange look.

"That's typical," I thought. "The bus is empty and yet I still end up sitting next to a fucking nutcase."

¡Finalmente yo he visto a Los Bunkers en vivo!

Finalmente los he visto!  ¡Me encantaron!

¡Viven Los Bunkers!

Was Listening To...

Was Listening to Olivia Tremor Control.  Then found myself onto Egyptian Hip Hop. (Facebook post:)

When you type 'Egyptian Hip Hop' into a search engine, and it doesn't understand that you're looking for a guitar-based Mancunian indie band.

'Rad Pitt' by Egyptian Hip Hop is pretty good, but 'Moon Crooner' is fantastic!

After listening to Egyptian Hip Hop, it made me want to find the Soft Pack.  I had no idea they released their album nearly two years ago.  Am happy.

Best song lyric ever?

OK... I'm not saying it's the best ever, but it is one of my favourites:

I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth

It's been too long since I've listened to this:

I seem to be on a right old music kick lately, probably very highly correlationally related to the amount I've had the luxury to smoke lately... but wow!, it's been too long since I've listened to this album... it's a classic.  Right from the start, from 'Vertigo'.

And on to 2004's eponymous album.... Neglected for too long!

Has the world missed out... or am I just stoned?

This song is epic and majestic... really want to ask if the UK music press has passed by this gem:

Whoever that reviewer was who said BBC have never had a strong personality/identity... wrong.  This song is self-owning.

Seminal classics...

I've been to both days of Lollapalooza Chile 2012, no idea why I'm not commenting about that....

But post-Lolla, I felt like listening to some old seminal classics:

Ultra Vivid Scene - Mirror to Mirror x2 (heartbreakingly beautiful on your third glass of wine and some hash, for once!... throw in feel-good factor from an excellent time at Lollapalooza!  : ) ; Mercy Seat

The Loft - Up The Hill and Down the Slope x 2

Meat Whiplash - Don't Slip Up x2 (or x3 ?)

Drugstore - ...

... and then other events intervened.  No more listening.
